Kabul Polytechnic University visit to RTU

From 12th to 13th of May, 2014 the Rector of Kabul Polytechnic University Professor Ezatullah Amed and the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Islam Republic of Afghanistan Professor Mohd Nazir Nejabi visited RTU.

This was a response visit to the previous visit of the RTU Deputy Rector for International Academic Cooperation and Studies Professor Igors Tipāns to Kabul Polytechnic University in autumn 2013. During a meeting with the Minister of Higher Education of Afghanistan and senior staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan RTU offered a wide range of cooperation possibilities with higher education institutions of Afghanistan, including not only the cooperation in railway transport specialist training, but also in areas as construction, chemicals, logistics, etc. 

kpu_visit_2.jpgDuring the first day of the visit the members of the delegation took the opportunity of visiting the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia where they met with the State Secretary Sanda Liepiņa and senior staff of the ministry. At the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Latvia KPU representatives met with the State Secretary Kaspars Ozoliņš and his Deputy Dins Merirands. In the afternoon members of the delegation met with the Vice-rector for Science and Research of RTU as well as they were introduced to various fields of operation of the Faculty of Engineering Economics and Management during a meeting with several representatives of this structural unit of RTU. 

kpu_visit_3.jpgThe 13th of May began with a guest lecture held by the Director of Quality Assurance and Accreditation of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Islam Republic of Afghanistan Professor Nejabi on „Transportation Network in Afghanistan” at the Institute of Railway Transport of RTU, which was followed by a meeting with the Vice-rector for Academic Affairs Professor Uldis Sukovskis. 

kpu_visit_4.jpgIn the afternoon the KPU representatives visited the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, the Faculty of Architecture and Urban Planning, and the Faculty of Civil Engineering. In all of the faculties mentioned meetings with deans as well as academic staff were held with the aim of discussing potential cooperation possibilities between RTU and KPU. Kabul Polytechnic University has demonstrated interest in raising the qualification of the academic staff as well as improving several study programs of KPU. 

kpu_visit_5.jpgIn conclusion of the visit KPU representatives had the opportunity of visiting the RTU Student hostel. 

Based on the interest in cooperation opportunities with RTU expressed by KPU senior management, KPU delegation was given a cooperation agreement project.
