Rector and representatives of Riga Technical University visit universities in Kazakhstan

From 28 May to 1 June, rector of Riga Technical University (RTU) Leonīds Ribickis with representatives of RTU Gita Rēvalde and Igors Tipāns visited Kazakhstan, Astana and Almaty.

RTU delegation visited Nazarbayev University, Eurasian University, Kazakhstan Agro-technical University, Finance Academy in Astana and International IT University in Almaty. During the meetings, rector discussed possible cooperation between universities and opportunities in students and staff exchange. During the visit RTU delegation signed a cooperation agreement with Finance Academy and took part in reception organized by H.E.  Juris Maklakovs, Ambassador of Latvia to Kazakhstan Republic.

RTU delegation also had opportunity to meet with representatives of Astana Higher Education Department and to visit Bolshak scholarship fund, in order to promote Latvian and Kazakhstan students, teachers and researchers exchange. Delegation had a great experience to take part in rector’s symposium of Eurasia Railways Universities, in Almaty. During the visit in Kazakhstan, the RTU delegation will also visit the other partner universities, which have already established long term cooperation with RTU.

Kazakhstan is a Central Asian country and is the 9th largest country in the World. Its capital city is Astana. Kazakhstan declared its independence in the December 16, 1991 and a population of the country is more than 16 million.
