RTU receives European University Association quality mark

Riga Technical University (RTU) has received positive feedback from experts of the European University Association’s Institutional Evaluation Programme (IEP) and was awarded a quality mark – «IEP approved».

The report of IEP emphasizes the university’s achievements in linking science with innovations and the high demand for the university’s graduate’s in the labor market. Experts of IEP highly praise the territorial complex of RTU situated on Kipsala, which will be the first modern example of engineering science student campuses in the Baltic States.

RTU’s efforts to improve teaching methods and creating an internal quality system are some of the most positive examples mentioned by IEP. RTU Scientific Library and digitalization of massive volumes of information required for studies deserves special mentioning. Experts have proposed recommendations in regard to attracting new scientists and making sure work continues undisturbed.

As recognition of the university’s achievements, IEP has presented RTU with a special quality mark – «IEP approved». RTU is allowed to use this mark on its official website and other information materials.

«RTU celebrates its 151st birthday this week. Praise from international experts is the perfect present our university can receive. It also shows that RTU is on the right path,» comments RTU rector academician Leonids Ribickis.

RTU volunteered to participate in the IEP programme in order to receive an evaluation worthy of European quality guidelines and be given recommendations on its long-term development.

The evaluation process includes self-evaluation, data processing, two visits of experts and presentation of recommendations.

IEP is an internationally recognized European institution. It is an independent structure that functions in line with European standards and guidelines.
