The Riga Technical University (RTU) Grand Graduation Ceremony, during which approximately 1000 Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree holders will receive their diplomas, will take place this year on 28 June at 18.00 at Kipsala International Exhibition Centre. This will be the eighth RTU Grand Graduation - the grandest event of the academic year, when all RTU graduates will receive their diplomas at the same time and celebrate the end of their studies together with the faculty and their families. The event will also be streamed live on the RTU website and Facebook.
The graduation ceremony will be officially opened by the Rector of RTU Tālis Juhna, and speeches will be delivered by the Speaker of the Saeima Daiga Mieriņa, the Minister of Education and Science Anda Čakša, as well as the President of the RTU Alumni Association Evita Štrausa.
At 18.30, the diplomas will be awarded on the faculties' stages, and at 20.00, the new PhDs will be welcomed on the Grand Stage. At 20.30, the graduation ceremony will come to a close with a musical greeting by partners SummerSound and Ride, an address by a graduate, a musical greeting by students and the culmination of the event with a salute of graduates' hats. Afterwards, the bands «Dzelzs Vilks», «aPēdājs» and «Singapūras satīns», as well as the RTU mixed choir «Vivere» will perform, and DJ Egons Reiters will provide the music afterwards.
